Picking a venue for a party is a pain. Before you can even think about dressing the venue with balloons and other decorative features you have to find the perfect setting, this isn’t always easy, especially when you have a number of people to cater for.

Let’s look at this from an objective viewpoint. The team at Balloon Works are here to offer their views on the subject of venue space, here’s what we think…

#Work out numbers in advance

Jot down the number of people that’ll be attending your event.  Once you know the exact figure, start to look at venues that have the room to cater for your numbers.

The capacity of venues varies greatly. Choose a room that’s too small and you’ll be struggling to squeeze everyone inside, pick somewhere too big and your guests will be rattling around.

One point to bear in mind is last minute guests. There will always be a few extra guests you end up inviting to the party, can your venue cope at the eleventh-hour?

#Stand up, sit down

Make a decision about catering early on. Formal sit down parties need extra space, buffets take up less room. If you simply want to party hard and enjoy a slightly less formal occasion, a buffet isn’t a bad idea.

Buffets save space!

Something else to consider when you are sourcing a venue is the type of entertainment you prefer, and how much room they are going to require.

Obviously this varies from one party to the next.

A children’s party for example could be brought to life with face painters, magicians, balloon modellers or puppet shows – none of these options require a great deal of room. Organise a wedding though and live bands, DJs, photo booths or stringed quartets could be part of your plans and they need plenty of space.

Do you have enough room at the venue for your choice of entertainment?

If you are hiring a band, is there a stage available or plenty of room for the artists to set up and play in comfort?

Consider the layout of the room before you hire an entertainer. Pick something suitable that fits in with your requirements, be prepared and make good use of the space.

Thankfully balloons suit any sized venue. You don’t have to worry about space when Balloon Works are on the case!
